How do wine and wellness fit together?
I run wellness and yoga retreats with wine in them. Which sounds a bit contradictory, so I think it needs explaining.
Wellness, to me, isn't about cutting everything out. In fact, the times in my life where I've been obsessed with a particular diet or lifestyle are some of the times that I've been most unwell.
So now, I'm focused on a balance: movement and stillness, discipline and indulgence.
On my retreats, the focus is not on drinking a lot. It's about really enjoying what you're drinking, along with dinner. Wine chosen to go with the food, enjoyed slowly with people you're getting to know.
How we do it at Sama Scarlett
Quality over quantity: wines picked to pair with each course.
Never compulsory: alcohol-free pairings are always available, and it's definitely not a competition of how much people can drink.
Raise a glass to your goals
At the Winter Goals Retreat in Bath (29th to 31st December), there's a wine-pairing dinner on the second night, and you'll write your biggest goal for 2027 on a bottle you only open when you hit it.
