The conversation that inspired my Winter Goals Retreat

In August I ran my first ever Sama Scarlett retreat in Cornwall. Surfing, yoga, incredible food, very good wine, bottle painting, and somehow some bloody lovely weather. It was everything I hoped it would be.

But the thing I remember most wasn't on the itinerary.

The Saturday night dinner

Over a three-course dinner on the Saturday night, we got talking about our goals. It turned into going round the table, each person talking about what they wanted from the year ahead.

And then something lovely happened. Everyone else turned into cheerleaders around the table. Sharing their own ideas about how to make each person's goal happen. A table of women who'd only met two days earlier, cheering each other on.

I've been thinking about that conversation ever since.

Why it stuck with me

If you are anything like me, you love setting goals, but never seem to find the time before the New Year. By the time I get around to it, I'm already some way into January, and have lost a lot of motivation.

What I saw around that table at my retreat was different. Goals said out loud, to people who wanted you to succeed, felt more tangible. And planning them over good food and a glass of wine felt a lot more fun than your normal January resolution.

So I built a whole retreat around it

The Winter Goals Retreat runs from 29th to 31st December in a Georgian townhouse in the middle of Bath. Three days of yoga and meditation, reflecting on 2026, and making an actual plan for 2027, with a private chef, amazing wine and a group of people all there for the same reason as you.

You'll write your biggest goal for 2027 on a bottle of wine, ready to open when you hit it.

We finish on the morning of New Year's Eve, so you're home in plenty of time for your own plans. Solo bookers and groups are all welcome, and there are 12 places.
